Health, demographic changeand well-being
Europe faces four main health challenges: (i) rising and potentially unsustainable health care and care costs, mainly due to the growing prevalence of chronic diseases, an aging population requiring more diverse care and increasing needs of society; (ii) the influence on health of external environmental factors, including climate change; (iii) the risk of losing our ability to protect populations from the threats of infectious diseases; (iv) health inequalities and access to health and care.
